Steeplechase of Charleston presented by Lexus returns to Stono Ferry Racetrack on Saturday, November 15, 2026, for the Lowcountry’s most anticipated day of racing, fashion and fall fun. Coming off a triumphant comeback in 2025, this year’s event delivers a full day of electrifying racing, tailgates buzzing with energy, live entertainment and Charleston’s best-dressed crowd turning out in their finest.
“There’s nothing in Charleston like race day,” says Executive Director Chris Zoeller. “You feel the ground shake before you even see horses, and then they fly right by you, close enough to feel it. That thrill is something you can’t get anywhere else in the Lowcountry.”
“Our team puts real work into turf management and course conditioning to give fans and horses the best racing experience possible,” says Race Director Toby Edwards. “This year’s field promises to be one of the most competitive yet, with a purse of more than $100,000 on the line.”
Beyond the rail, the infield comes alive with tailgates, live music and Charleston’s signature Lowcountry hospitality. The event’s famed style scene returns as well, with fans encouraged to show up in their finest hats, bow ties, and boots. At Steeplechase of Charleston, the outfit is half the fun. Fan favorites the Corgi Cup, presented by Peper Law Firm; the Paddock, sponsored by Huntington Bank; and the Merchant Market are also back, a few of day’s most popular attractions.
Ticket options for 2026 include General Admission, tailgate spots and the Lexus VIP Lounge. Kids 12 and under are free, making it easier for groups of families and friends to plan their day at the race together. Attendees are encouraged to purchase tailgate spots early to secure the best location along the rails, and an early bird discount of 25% is available on General Admission tickets through August 16, 2026, using promo code SOCEB25. Steeplechase horse racing has been a cherished Lowcountry tradition since 1734, when the world’s oldest jockey club, South Carolina Jockey Club, was founded. The 2026 Steeplechase of Charleston carries the nearly 300-year legacy forward as one of Charleston’s signature fall gatherings.
